Ready? Set… Test! 🚀

“ -Twenty seconds and counting. T minus 15 seconds. Twelve, 11, 10, 9, ignition sequence starts… 8, 7, 6, 5, 4… 3… 2… 1, zero, all engine running… TEST! 

-Test? Are you kidding me? What happened with the LIFT OFF? 🧐

-We’re sorry Purpl, lift-off cannot take place unless our rocket is well tested!” 

Nope, it’s not a conversation between aerospace engineers of Space X, but a quick chat between me and the product team last month.🙄

Sounds fun, right? Well, I don’t know if my teammates would agree with that… But what I can assure you of, is that it was a crazy month for all of us! 

We decided to launch our beta app and get as many early adopters on board as possible to help us test the app and gather feedback. Here’s how it went:

Testing, testing… and a little bit more testing

As you’ve heard from our engineers, a rocket cannot lift off without it being well tested. So, last month was all about testing our rocket. 🚀

2 testing sessions took place: 

1- Virtual App Usability Testing👩‍💻:

“Usability means making sure that something works well: that a person of average ability and experience can use the thing—whether it’s a website, a toaster, or a revolving door — for its intended purpose without getting hopelessly frustrated.” 

–  Steve Krug, the author of “Don’t Make Me Think”

Purpl app was usability tested with 7 members of our target group. The test method was the “think aloud” method, where test participants carry out tasks while being observed, and asked to think out loud. (only thoughts related to the app 😜) 

Usability test sessions were attended and recorded. Videos of the usability test sessions were then analyzed by our usability in-house expert Nour after the test. The primary purpose of the usability test was to identify the 5 quality components below: 

✨ Learnability, Efficiency, Memorability, Errors and Satisfaction

2- Live ATM Cashout 🏦: 

More than 100 Beta users were randomly selected for the live ATM cash-out testing of USD20 each. The users were asked to complete a full cash-out from a bank ATM. Testers were only observed, not assisted, and were asked to rate their overall experience.

So far, all of our efforts have been organic, continuously pitching our dream and the team! Here are the results:

  • More than 600+ app downloads
  • More than 1’600 unique visitors on purplme.com during the month of May
  • 120% growth in number of followers on our Linkedin page
  • 205% growth in number of followers on our Instagram page
  • Infinite number of love and support! We can’t thank all of you enough 💜

Well, of course, TEST! Again and again, until we make sure our rocket is bug and errors free and ready to be launched to the moon! ✨
